Music Theory
The principles of music theory are the building blocks you’ll use every time you sit down to create a new composition. Using music-notation software, you'll be able to analyze and study classical compositional techniques, and develop a firm grasp on foundational concepts like rhythm, meter, phrase, scales, and harmony. You’ll also strengthen your ear training through exercises in musical listening and identification, as you study intervals, scales, triads, melodies, and transcription techniques.
You’ll also delve into music’s roots with courses in music history. You will study the evolution of western music from classical to modern, and the evolution of popular music from the early 20th century all the way up to what's dominating the airwaves today.
