Gaia Teams Up With Warners, Sony for Movie Content

December 3, 2007
Gaia Online has recently partnered with Warner Bros. and Sony Pictures to host their content. The popular online community will deliver films and television shows on a pay-per-view basis, with the first batch of titles including Spider-Man, Ghost Rider, and The Matrix.

The films will be available through the site’s “Gaia Cinemas” section, which debuted in April of ’07. This virtual theater allows users to gather together and “throw” animated tomatoes and popcorn at the screen as they play. The Cinema service also features anime, short films, and cartoons. Each view will cost $1.99.

Gaia Online launched in 2003 as Go-Gaia, and was primarily designed as a forum for anime fans. It also offers such features as a private messaging system, item trading, guilds, and detailed user profiles. Flash games such as Fishing, Word Bump, and Gaia Rally are also available.
