Full Sail University is proud to announce the latest addition to its campus: the Full Sail University Sports Lab powered by ESPN. “ESPN has long been an industry leader in utilizing cutting-edge technology to bring fans the best content,” said Anthony Bailey, vice president, emerging technology, ESPN.  “The energy and creativity the students and staff at Full Sail University will bring to this facility will help us develop new tools to provide fans the best on-air coverage of sports.”

The project-based research and development center will serve as an on-campus hub for students, faculty, and ESPN employees to produce content and technologies that can be used across ESPN's properties, including its websites, television programs, mobile applications, and more.

“The key to ensuring that Full Sail University curricula is current and relevant is to continuously align with industry. Research is an integral part of that process," says Erik Noteboom, Vice President, Education Operations at Full Sail. "This collaborative sports lab with ESPN will allow select faculty and students the opportunity to apply and refine their knowledge, and eventually bring even more real-world applications back to the classroom. This culminates in graduates having the ability to push the envelope of next-generation technologies.”

“Full Sail has always believed that the closest and most engaged relationship with industry leaders drives optimal student and graduate outcomes because it aligns our curriculum with industry expectations," says Ken Goldstone, Chief Operating Officer at Full Sail. "The opening of the Full Sail University Sports Lab powered by ESPN, a global entertainment industry leader, is a prime example of our educational approach in action and it is a compliment to our students that ESPN has chosen Full Sail to help guide the development of future sports technology.”

The opening of the Sports Lab was announced during the same week as the  announcement of Full Sail’s new Sports Marketing & Media Bachelor of Science online degree program. This program, scheduled to enroll its first class in February 2011, was designed specifically to teach students how the principles of marketing and the fundamentals of content creation can be applied to the sports industry.
