On April 23, Full Sail University’s recording arts club, Frequency, hosted a Performance Clinic – a live showcase where students performed original music and received real-time feedback from audience members.

Frequency Club’s goal is to come together to make music, hone creative skills, network with peers, and enjoy good vibes. At the Performance Clinic held at the Treehouse – Full Sail’s student-run performance venue – students from all degree programs could practice performing, grow their confidence, and level up their craft. Club members from various Full Sail degree programs filled roles like artist liaison, stage manager, and master of ceremonies during the event.

One by one, student performers including Crimson Hearts, Cola Boys, and Divine Phoenix took the stage to showcase their creativity in front of the crowd. Colorful lights shone as artists expressed themselves and shared their art, including original songs about the ups and downs of a romantic relationship, a journey to find emotional healing, and a 1980s-inspired ballad.

After each performance, the event’s master of ceremonies walked around the room with a microphone and gave audience members the opportunity to share feedback with the artists, such as what they liked about the performance and ideas for how the artist could improve.

“[The Performance Clinic] gives students a chance to [take] the stage,” said Jessica Kearney, a Frequency Club advisor and lab specialist in the Recording Arts degree program. “A lot of artists are craving a place to showcase what they can do, so it’s really awesome that we can give them that space.”
