Full Sail Celebrates Halloween with ‘Alien’-Inspired Extravaganza

The annual Halloween party featured movie magic, costumes, and more.

A vibrant crowd in costumes gathers at Full Sail University, celebrating 45 years of the ‘Alien’ franchise for Halloween.

Full Sail’s annual Halloween celebration recently took over the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress. As usual, the party took on a horror movie-inspired theme, and this year, the event celebrated the Alien film franchise. With both Full Sail and Alien celebrating 45-year anniversaries in 2024, it served as a fitting choice for this year’s event.

Hosted by Staff & Cultural Development on Halloween, the event invited students, faculty, and staff into the Fortress for a spooky celebration, complete with entertainment, costume contests, professional photo booths, and, of course, some candy.

Staff members worked with Full Sail’s film department to create replica alien egg sacs and Nostromo-inspired set design pieces for a short theatrical presentation in honor of the franchise. Actors in costume portrayed the film’s hero, Ellen Ripley, as well as her dreaded antagonist, the H.R. Giger-designed alien, in a truncated version of Ridley Scott’s 1979 science fiction classic.

In addition to honoring Alien, the party also featured an eight-piece Mario Bros. performing troupe, complete with a singing Toad, and, of course, staff and students joined in the Halloween spirit, dressing in a slew of costumes based on their favorite films, shows, video games, books, and more. Attendees also participated in costume contests where they displayed their creativity while campus organizations like Animals of Full Sail joined in the fun, hosting their own pet costume contest during the event.
