On Saturday, more than 300 bloggers and brand strategists gathered on Full Sail’s campus for the 2013 Florida Blogger and Social Media Conference, also known as FLBlogCon. Participants attended workshops on topics like building an audience through social media, developing video and written content, working with widgets and gadgets, maximizing SEO, and turning a blog into a business.

Two workshops featured Full Sail presenters. Kerry Gorgone, an attorney and Course Director for Full Sail’s Internet Marketing master of science degree program, discussed legal pitfalls in “Blogging: Don’t Make a Federal Case Out of It.” Full Sail’s Director of Social Media Melissa Albers, along with Social Media Strategist Jimi Kunkel, presented a workshop on Instagram and Vine.

Keynote speakers at the FLBlogCon included Orlando Magic Senior Vice President and author Pat Williams and Marketing Nutz CEO/Founder Pam Moore.

Bess Auer, founder and host of FLBlogCon, said the conference was a huge success and participation has tripled since she started the conference in 2011.

“The [Florida] blogging community is growing by leaps and bounds,” says Auer. “And the best thing to me is that brands are starting to recognize that there is this growing community, and it’s a valid community. They have a voice; people listen to what the bloggers say. They read what they write, so it’s a powerful thing.”

FLBlogCon13 was presented by Bahama Breeze and was sponsored by Sysco, Ford, Pinnacle Vodka, TriNet, Barnie’s Coffee Kitchen, and Florida Dairy Farmers.
