Full Sail served as one of the local host sites for the Global Game Jam last weekend, a worldwide event that saw thousands of game enthusiasts in 488 locations create brand new digital and analog games in the span of just 48 hours. More than 150 people (a majority of them Full Sail students) spent the weekend in the Entertainment Business Building – brainstorming, designing, developing, programming, troubleshooting, and very rarely sleeping. According to Game Development Course Director Steve VanZandt, who managed the event, prototypes for 17 new games were created. They were all based around the theme, “We don’t see things as they are, we see them as we are,” and included everything from a first-person survival horror game to one featuring a character named Rupie the Penguin.

You can check out descriptions and stills from many of the games from the weekend over on the Global Game Jam website.
