Student Veterans Honored with Thanksgiving Feast
This year's dinner honoring veterans and their spouses also commemorated the anniversary of the U.S. Marine Corps.
The annual Student Veteran Thanksgiving Dinner welcomed about 150 veterans and their guests from all branches of our military for an evening of food, guest speakers, and even a bagpipe performance by Media Design MFA Program Director Don Larson.
The evening is a chance for Full Sail to recognize our student veterans and give thanks for their service, as well as bring the students together. “It’s important for [our student veterans] to know that we care not only about the student but about the person. "They are an important part of our community and should be treated as such,” said Military Admissions Representative Christina Carde.
Film bachelor’s student and Air Force veteran Ryan Largeman came to the event hoping to connect with other kindred spirits who have gone through experiences similar to his own. He ended up connecting with another student who he hopes to interview for a school project.
This year’s dinner also happened to fall on the birthday of the United States Marine Corps, and Full Sail recognized the milestone with a birthday cake as well as inviting Marines in the audience on stage to sing the Marine Corps song.
Full Sail looks forward to hosting the event again next year, but until then be sure to check out our gallery of the event below.
