Critical Listening


The Critical Listening course focuses on developing listening skills to enhance audio engineering and production through the analysis of sound, recorded signals, signal processing, sonic environments, music, and film. Course topics include the physics of sound, acoustics and psychoacoustics, sound analysis, the identification of various production techniques, and application of those techniques. Students will also hone their critical listening skills through project-based assignments that allow them to develop a connection between sound waves, audio signals, the acoustic environment and individual perceptions of sound.
