About This Program

If you’re looking to pursue a bachelor’s degree in audio production, Full Sail can help you gain the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to conduct business as an independent audio creator.

The audio production professional of the future is not a traditional job seeker, but an entrepreneurial-minded self-starter. It's no longer just about working in conventional studios; audio specialists now enjoy the flexibility of working from creative spaces – large or small – anywhere in the world. In this coursework, you’ll learn everything from pop culture and music business fundamentals to production and postproduction techniques. You’ll build foundational knowledge in the associate-level portion, followed by more advanced concepts in your bachelor’s courses.

This undergraduate program is structured with two areas of focus that, when completed, will provide you with two distinct degrees. First, you’ll complete associate-level classes designed to give you foundational knowledge while still featuring focused core classes in your area of study.

You’ll then transition seamlessly into the bachelor’s portion of the program, where advanced courses will allow you to expand your skills and give you even more hands-on experience.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Fundamentals of Music Business - Students will examine different components of the music industry, such as companies, unions, not-for-profit associations, and other entities that influence the music production and live-event fields.

Game Audio Production Techniques ‐ The course focuses on creative design and addresses the considerations of audio behavior for games.

Advanced Mixing Techniques ‐ The course examines optimizing the mixing environment, mixing styles, mixing strategies, aesthetics, and advanced signal processing. Common problems encountered by mix engineers will be discussed, along with creative solutions.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Recording Principles - This course introduces students to the theory and operation of essential audio tools ranging from microphones to mixers. Primary topics include audio basics, signal flow, basic microphone techniques, gain staging, audio processors, and basic file and session management.

Mixing Techniques - This course explores the use of audio processors and mixers to shape high-quality mixes, building on the students' gear knowledge and listening skills. Students will learn to use principles of blend, contrast, space, and dynamics to build listener interest.

Modern Production Techniques - Synthesizing their work in recording, editing, and mixing from prior curriculum, students will apply studio techniques to build high-quality multitrack sessions in development toward a polished finished product.
