If you’re considering a creative writing bachelor’s degree, Full Sail will help show you how to tell stories in a meaningful and savvy way.

Stories carry the power to shape the world, allowing us to explore the furthest reaches of experience – whether it’s our own, or someone else’s. The creative writing curriculum will help you learn to tell tales across different media platforms, incorporate visual elements into stories, examine various genres, and learn about publication and distribution methods. You’ll hone your craft through ongoing portfolio courses and peer-to-peer workshops. The associate-level courses will help you build foundational knowledge, followed by advanced concepts in the bachelor’s portion.

HOW THIS WORKS

This undergraduate program is structured with two areas of focus that, when completed, will provide you with two distinct degrees. First, you’ll complete associate-level classes designed to give you foundational knowledge while still featuring focused core classes in your area of study.

You’ll then transition seamlessly into the bachelor’s portion of the program, where advanced courses will allow you to expand your skills and give you even more hands-on experience.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Children's Entertainment - In this course, students will learn about both classic and contemporary children's literature and its place within the context of writing for print, television, film, and animation. Students will also explore different avenues of publication and distribution.

Gaming and Transmedia Storytelling - This course explores the impact of transmedia on audience behavior and media culture as well as its relevance as a media communication tool. Students will survey the history of transmedia, theories of industry pioneers, and trends created by current leaders in the field.

Media Entrepreneurship - This course introduces students to the basics of entrepreneurship and the evolving business models for media. The course investigates general concepts of entrepreneurship and how digital technologies and the Internet are transforming media economics.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Multimedia Storytelling - Students will learn the building blocks of visual storytelling, such as how to communicate moods, emotions, ideas, sounds, and scenery through props.

Television Writing - This course provides a challenging opportunity for students to adapt principles and concepts gleaned from previous writing courses to develop proficiency with the creative process used by professional television writers.

Publishing & Distribution - Students in this course will learn how to publish and distribute their screenplays, television shows, comic books, videogame scripts, and novels.
