About This Program

Looking for a bachelor’s education in music production? At Full Sail, you’ll gain a thorough and comprehensive understanding of music creation and production.

Music production tools are now accessible virtually anywhere in the world; however, the skills required to put those tools to use are what separate hobbyists from industry professionals. In this discipline, you’ll learn foundational concepts such as music theory and composition in your associate-level classes, then explore an array of complex procedures and applications used in the music production industry in the bachelor’s portion of your studies. Coursework ranges from digital audio principles and digital workstation technology to advanced audio production and engineering techniques.

This undergraduate program is structured with two areas of focus that, when completed, will provide you with two distinct degrees. First, you’ll complete associate-level classes designed to give you foundational knowledge while still featuring focused core classes in your area of study.

You’ll then transition seamlessly into the bachelor’s portion of the program, where advanced courses will allow you to expand your skills and give you even more hands-on experience.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Audio Engineering Techniques - Students will develop workflows and strategies for producing the highest-quality results in their music-production projects.

Game Music Composition - Students will study game music and design, analyze design approaches, and synthesize and use a toolbox of production strategies.

Musical Arrangement ‐ This course focuses on developing an understanding of the nature and limitations of acoustic and electronic instruments, as well as effective formulaic techniques for successful arrangement.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Recording Principles - Primary topics include audio basics, signal flow, basic microphone techniques, gain staging, audio processors, and basic file and session management.

Audio Workstations - Students will receive instruction and practical experience with powerful computer-based recording systems typically found in the modern recording and show production industry.

Musical Structure & Analysis - Advanced harmonic, melodic, and rhythmic concepts are identified and explored in a popular music format. The course places emphasis on practical application in a project-studio environment.
