"Red Bull Solo Q" 1V1 League of Legends® Tournament Series Brings the Electrifying Esports Competition to Full Sail University for Orlando Qualifier

The ultimate 1v1 League of Legends® (LoL) experience, Red Bull Solo Q, collaborated with Full Sail University to host a unique limited participant activation as part of the Orlando Qualifier held on Saturday, July 31. A limited number of students, staff and alumni of the university joined together on campus for a one-of-a kind experience, in additional to competing against local amateur players online from the public. All participants in the Orlando Qualifier completed online for a chance to rep their community in the U.S. Finals. Prizes, community pride, and the highly-coveted Red Bull Solo Q trophy is what awaited the victor who vanquished their opponents.

Full Sail University saw three of their players making it into the top eight of the Orlando Qualifier including:

  • 1st Place - Nicholas "Shweeb" Levesque, Game Development Graduate
  • 4th Place – Vojmir "Vojmir" Vladilo Molina, Game Development Student
  • 5th Place – Daniel "Takasu" Hernandez, Game Art Bachelors & Entertainment Masters Graduate

The event ended with Full Sail's Nicholas "Shweeb" Levesque coming in second overall, and online participant "Kyomi" taking first place.

Participation in each regional qualifier was restricted only to players currently residing in that region. To ensure the safety of participants, the in-person Orlando qualifier at Full Sail University was enhanced with health and safety measures based on guidance from health authorities and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Red Bull Solo Q has allowed fans to make their mark by bringing LoL players to new heights. In a world where LoL is traditionally played in a 5v5 team setting, Red Bull Solo Q settled the score and showcased individual skill with a 1v1 gameplay format. Amateurs faced-off in the top lane of Summoner's Rift and can claim victory by being the first player to get two kills under seven minutes, or one kill after seven minutes, destroying the opposing player's outer turret, or achieving a 100-minion creep score first.

Red Bull Solo Q 2021 builds on last year's success, which attracted over 80,000 signups and national and international champions crowned around the world. Alongside the 2021 competition special appearances from some of the biggest stars in League of Legends, included Alberto "Crumbz" Rengifo and Nicki Taylor. These personalities are a part of exclusive Red Bull Solo Q content, events and tournaments throughout the competition series this year. Additional upcoming national online open qualifiers are scheduled to take place on August 29 and November 14.
