As both an artist and a consumer of media, you know what looks good – what’s visually strong and appealing to an audience – and Full Sail’s Graphic Design Associate’s Degree Program can help you take that knowledge and combine it with the professional skills you need to take your eye for great design into a career as a graphic designer.
You’ll get a solid foundation by studying techniques in art and color theory, corporate branding, logos and symbols, typography, and the psychology of different design aesthetics, and will learn how to apply those principles to creative projects just like those encountered in the graphic design industry. By working in a professional design environment – creating design proposals, branding campaigns, storyboards, photography, publication layouts, and more – you’ll gain valuable experience on projects defined by specific creative guidelines with real-world deadlines.
Since professional designers are no longer confined to working with sketch pads and pencils, you’ll learn how to effectively use digital publishing tools, photography, and image manipulation software in your design projects. You’ll also bring your designs to life by learning how to produce and edit high quality digital video, and the fundamentals of web design and Flash media.
Your understanding of these graphic design principles will be reflected in a personal design portfolio you’ll create near the end of the degree. This collection of your art and design projects will act as your own piece of branded media, which you’ll use to communicate your strengths as a designer to potential employers.
