Full Sail University hosted its first Student Resource Fair last week, bringing new and continuing students to the Full Sail University Orlando Health Fortress to meet and chat with staff about the many resources available to them.

“The planning committee was intentional with picking a date in the fall to mirror the traditional start times where people are eager, want to get involved, and are ready to consume information,” said Jessica Henlon, Director of Student Development.

Student Success Services is very important because we are able to be the outreach for students to help them to break down their barriers with student accommodations."

Several departments set up booths at the fair to chat with students, share information, and enjoy the lively atmosphere. Career Development, the International Student Society, the Housing department, and even the library welcomed students with information about how to make the most of their services.

The Student Advocacy department attended the fair to encourage students to keep giving their all academically and inform students of their options if they feel like they need to pause their studies.

“We know that life happens [and] situations arise,” said Melissa Olivera, Student Advocacy Team Leader.

Students focused on making the most out of their time at Full Sail could speak with Student Success Services.

“Student Success Services is very important because we are able to be the outreach for students to help them to break down their barriers with student accommodations. We also help with resources for students who may need extra help with our tutoring center, as well as resources for the seminars that we have for students to learn more about their learning styles. It’s a very good way for us to connect with students,” explained Student Success Specialist Elliot Davin.

Along with plenty of helpful information, the Student Resource Fair provided snacks, pizza, and raffles every 15 minutes. At one point, students gathered on stage for a dance-off where the volume of the audience’s applause determined the victor.

“[So many of the departments] have the same goal: we want to make sure the students know we are here, we want to support them, [make sure they understand] why we are here, what we do, and how we help in different ways,” said Jessica.
