International Student Society Celebrates Caribbean Heritage Month

In celebration of Caribbean Heritage Month, the International Student Society recently hosted a lively “Island Jam” event, complete with music, crafts, and delicious food. Caribbean Heritage Month honors the rich cultures and contributions of Caribbean people, and the International Student Society collaborated with Student Community Association, Pride Club, Black Student Union, Tabletop Games, and Youth Families and Communities United to put on a festive celebration to commemorate the month.

Caribbean music soundtracked the event while students explored various tables laden with different arts and crafts including beaded bracelets, Carnival headbands, and beautiful papier-mâché “vejigante” masks. They also had the opportunity to explore the various educational booths, including a booth explaining LGBTQ+ culture in the Caribbean, immersing themselves in the region's extensive history and heritage.
