Local Tech Leaders Gather in Full Sail Live for ‘Orlando Rising’ Premiere

The unofficial kick off to last week’s Fifth Annual Hall of Fame Celebration was the premiere event for the new Orlando Rising documentary in Full Sail Live. More than 400 local professionals and Full Sail students and staff members were in attendance to watch the 45-minute film, which tells the story of Orlando’s growing digital economy.
Full Sail President Garry Jones welcomed guests and introduced Full Sail’s Director of Visual Arts, Rick Ramsey, who moderated a panel with Orlando Rising collaborators David Glass (filmmaker and founder of the Florida Technology Journal) and Eddie Bradley and Kai Isaac from FilmScape Productions. In November 2012, David and the team at FilmScape set out to interview more than 30 people involved in Orlando’s tech and digital communities and asked them, “What’s so cool about Orlando’s tech/digital scene?” The answers are highlighted in the documentary.
Orlando’s creative technology sector is a $14 billion industry (second only to travel and tourism) and according to David, the tech leaders profiled in Orlando Rising are working to transform the city into a global center for digital innovation.
David and his team will be hosting several more public screenings of Orlando Rising over the next month. For more details, visit orlandorising.com.
