125+ Full Sail Grads Worked on This Year’s Golden Globe Nominees
Grads from a wide range of degree programs worked on 49 nominated projects in 24 categories.
Streaming entertainment has dominated lists of awards show nominees over the last few years, and the projects nominated for the 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards are no exception. Shows like The Mandalorian on Disney+, Ratched on Netflix, and The Flight Attendant on HBO Max made appearances across a slew of categories. Audiences also had the opportunity to view many of 2020’s theatrical releases at home, enjoying nominees like Onward and Promising Young Woman from their living rooms. 128 Full Sail grads were credited on nominated projects, and when the winners were awarded on February 28, 29 grads were credited on 13 winning projects in 19 categories, including notable winners like Ted Lasso, The United States vs. Billie Holiday, Minari, Soul, Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, and more.
Small-Screen Nominees
Full Sail grads lent a hand on many of this year’s acclaimed TV shows. Two grads from Full Sail’s Computer Animation program, Daniel J. Pastor and Steven Benjamin, put live action footage and visual effects together as Digital Compositors on HBO's Lovecraft Country, which was nominated for Best Television Series – Drama. Recording Arts grad Brent Findley made sure everything sounded just right as an Assistant Sound Editor on the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy-nominated Ted Lasso. Additional grads helped out on nominated projects like Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist, Ozark, and The Queen’s Gambit.
Big-Screen Accolades
Full Sail alumni were nominated on film projects across a range of categories, including Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, Best Motion Picture – Drama, and Best Motion Picture – Animated. Film grad Eric Kovtun was an Executive Producer for Netflix’s The Prom, while Film grad Orlando Herrera (Camera Operator) and Recording Arts grad Geordy Sincavage (Foley Mixer) contributed to Sacha Baron Cohen’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm. Music Business and Recording Arts grad Mark Amicucci helped bring the memorable songs of Hamilton to life as a Mix Technician, and Computer Animation graduate Andrew Atteberry worked as an Animator on Pixar’s Soul.
Additional Full Sail grads are credited on projects in nominated categories like Best Motion Picture – Foreign Language, Best Original Song – Motion Picture, Best Screenplay – Motion Picture, and more.
