A Look Back at September's Campus Events

Fall kicked off with a wide range of events on Full Sail’s campus, like informative workshops, an anime expo, and live WWE matches.

Throughout the month of September, Full Sail University played host to a wide range of fun and engaging events catered to students of various degree programs and backgrounds. From workshops led by industry experts and roundtable discussions with Hall of Fame inductees to celebrations of Latin music and a homecoming event for WWE NXT, students had the chance to complement their coursework with networking opportunities, community engagement, and just plain fun. Here are a few highlights.

Workshops

Students learn a lot in the classroom – but their education doesn’t stop there. Several workshops for students in various degree programs happened during September, giving them a chance to dive deeper into their fields.

For example, a screenwriting and directing workshop was led by Full Sail faculty member Kevin J. O’Neill, who’s won awards as a writer, director, and producer of films such as Resemblance, Undertaking, and Man in the Woods. In the interactive session, students gained insight into their creative process, learned writing tips, shared about current projects, and connected with other aspiring writers and directors.

For those interested in entertainment business, Full Sail grad and Equity Partner at MSA Talent Agency Greg Uliasz led an Entertainment Industry Talk where he shared about his experience working at a talent agency.

Full Sail also hosted three roundtable discussions led by grads and Hall of Fame Inductees: one on the gaming industry with Game Design grad Erin Eberhardt; one on film and television with Stephanie Dawson; and one on sports and entertainment with Michael Benford.

Academic-Focused Events

In addition to workshops, students had opportunities to connect with resources on campus. At the Campus Life Block Party, the Student Community Association welcomed new and current students with clubs they could join and local resources they could access, as well as music, games, and food trucks.

At the New Student Resource Expo, students freshly enrolled at Full Sail could access an array of resources at their disposal, such as academic advising, tutoring, technical support, and more.

Events Just for Fun

Students don’t just study hard at Full Sail – they also have plenty of opportunities to have a good time. For example, the Pride Club hosted a Spooky Movie Night to kick off spooky season, where they screened Night of the Living Dead. Come Out With Pride held a trans and non-binary family picnic in the great outdoors with games, food, and a sense of camaraderie.

Full Sail honored Hispanic Heritage Month with a Latin Music Festival, where attendees could enjoy singing, dancing, live music, and poetry.

For fans of anime, an Anime Expo was held on campus featuring a cosplay contest, Bayblade and Jump Force tournaments, and an anime fan art display.

Full Sail also hosted WWE’s NXT Homecoming, a night of live wrestling matches at the Full Sail Live venue. Before the matches, students got a look behind the curtain via panels and presentations featuring NXT wrestlers and members of WWE’s production team.
