Alumni Credited on 57th Annual GRAMMY Award Nominated Projects
A grand total of 52 grads contributed to over 40 nominated projects, with six of those grads eligible to take home their own statues should their projects win.
The 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards are right around the corner, and Full Sail alumni will be front and center at this year’s ceremony. A grand total of 52 grads contributed to over 40 nominated projects, with six of those grads eligible to take home their own statues should their projects win.
2005 Recording Arts grad William McDowell is up for an award in the “Best Gospel Album” category for his live record Withholding Nothing. William singlehandedly wrote, produced and performed every song on the album, which has held steadily in the gospel charts since its release.
In the Album of the Year category, six more grads are up for statues of their own. 1995 Recording Arts grad Andrew Coleman worked on three out of five of the projects nominated in that category, including projects by Pharrell Williams, Beyoncé, and Ed Sheeran. Justin Hergett and Jordan “DJ Swivel” Young also contributed to the Beyoncé track, and Hall of Fame inductee Leslie Brathwaite brought his mixing expertise to Pharrell’s album. Rounding out the list of grads up for awards is Hart Gunther, who worked on the Pharrell project.
2008 Recording Arts grad John Blais picked up a Latin GRAMMY back in 2011 for his work with Calle 13. He mixed their latest album, MultiViral, which could snag an award in the “Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative” category. Other notable alumni involved in nominated projects include Hall of Fame inductees Phil Tan and Marcella Araica.
In honor of all the grads who made contributions to music this year, Full Sail will hold a live viewing party. Students and staff can watch the GRAMMYS this Sunday, February 8 in the Full Sail Live Venue. Guests are invited to walk the red carpet at 7p.m., with the show starting at 8 p.m.
