Full Sail Recognized at the 2024 *gamehers Awards
Faculty, students, and staff were nominated in categories including Top Educator of the Year and Journalist of the Year at the 2024 awards show.
Full Sail University is proud to celebrate the women of gaming and esports, including Full Sail faculty and staff recently recognized by gaming platform the*gamehers at their annual *gamehers Awards.
The*gamehers is a platform that invites content creators, streamers, esports athletes, and other women in the games industry to connect, highlight their achievements, and share their experiences with like-minded individuals. At their annual award show, women from throughout gaming and esports are highlighted for their contributions to the industry.
“From players, developers, and streamers to industry magnates, we harness the power of our global community to honor and celebrate the contributions and advancements driven by women, underlining the importance of gender equality in the realm of digital play,” said the*gamehers Executive Operations Manager Leonie Leonard. “The*gamehers Awards is integral to our mission and why we exist – to support, amplify, and celebrate women and femme-identifying individuals in gaming, and recognize them for their dedication to creating content, building communities, and empowering others.”
Full Sail University faculty, students, and staff were nominated in several categories at the 2024 award show hosted in Atlanta, Georgia. Nominations included Journalist of the Year (Full Sail student Rachel Olsen-Cooper), Guardian of the Year (Full Sail Instructor Ashley “AJ” Jones), Top Educator of the Year (Instructor Bec Godsey), and a nomination for a Lifetime Achievement Award for Sari Kitelyn, Full Sail’s Director of Esports and Project Development.
Full Sail Armada, Full Sail’s esports organization, was also recognized at the awards with a nomination in the Top Collegiate Organization of The Year category.
Game business and esports instructor Bec Godsey took home the award for PodcastHer of the Year while Esports & Coffee, an organization run by Sari Kitelyn and Ashley Jones, took home a win for Best DEI Initiative.
“We are a space where people can be safe to find the best versions of themselves. Where we celebrate the growth of individuals as the growth of a movement. This space has brought together the most incredibly inspiring community that truly motivate us, and push us to keep going, to keep fighting to be heard.” Said Sari after the awards. “The industry is changing and we maintain our unwavering commitment to that positive change.”
