On Saturday, June 17, b-boys and b-girls from throughout the southeastern US gathered at Full Sail University to compete at the Red Bull BC One Cypher Southeast USA. The breakdancing competition was the first of several local and regional Red Bull BC One events in the US leading up to the Red Bull BC One World Final in Paris, France this fall.

The event was emceed by local Orlando rapper and poet Myverse and took place in the Full Sail Live venue. The arena featured a breakdancing stage and front-row seats for the three experienced judges: b-girl Beta (Beta Langebeck), Red Bull BC One All-Star B-Boy Ronnie, and b-boy Flea Rock.

B-girl Beta (Beta Langebeck) is a Full Sail grad and one of this year’s Red Bull BC One Cypher Southeast USA judges.

This wasn’t Beta’s first time at Full Sail. Beta is a professional breakdancer, personal trainer, and strength coach – she’s also a Full Sail graduate; she completed her Digital Media degree in the early 2000s and said she enjoyed returning to campus 20 years later as a judge for this event.

“Seeing Full Sail 20 years later was quite impressive,” she said after the event. “It was nice to see a venue that advanced… This setup was probably one of the most impressive and visually stimulating [I’ve seen]. I felt like these dancers felt special.”

After multiple rounds of one-on-one battles, b-boy Links (Brandon Naguit) and b-girl Pebblz Luv (Maya Luv) were crowned the regional winners of Red Bull BC One Cypher Southeast USA, granting them the honor of competing at the Red Bull BC One National Final in Philadelphia in August.

B-boy Links is a Florida native and came to the competition representing BreakinMIA and Future Force Crew. B-girl Pebblz Luv has also won the 2019 Red Bull BC One LA Cypher and the 2021 Red Bull BC One San Diego Cypher. She represented Cypherst8.

The afternoon also featured music by DJ Felix and a special breakdance performance by b-boy and rapper Madd Illz and his crew.
