About This Program

The Creative Writing certificate program introduces students to character creation, story development, and other fundamentals of the narrative process. Students learn industry-specific formatting, script creation, and creative writing for the professional arena. This program also helps students become familiar with new media tools and a variety of communication platforms that strengthen their marketability as writing professionals.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

Creative Skills Development - Through building brainstorming techniques, discovering methods for overcoming writer's block, and drawing inspiration from the world around them, students learn how to spark and maintain their creative flow.

New Media Tools ‐ Students will explore a variety of media used in digital and online environments to accomplish course projects and further their understanding of new-media tools, including images, text, and streaming video and audio.

Multimedia Storytelling ‐ Students will learn the building blocks of visual storytelling, such as how to communicate moods, emotions, ideas, sounds, and scenery through props.
