Full Sail University’s Gaming Community Participates in Extra Life

On Saturday, November 2, Full Sail University’s gaming community will once again participate in Extra Life - a national fundraising initiative where gamers unite across the U.S and Canada to raise donations for sick kids in need at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. The annual event spans across 24-hours and will take place on November 2, 2019. The donations raised through the Full Sail University team will benefit sick children in the local community at Arnold Palmer Hospital in Orlando, FL.

In 2017, Full Sail had 20 registered team members and 7 gamed, raising $3,000. In 2018, Full Sail had 150 registered team members, 81 gamed, and raised $5,000. In 2019, for the upcoming event, Full Sail has already registered nearly 500 team members and is planning for its largest 24-hour Extra Life initiative yet. Currently, the team has raised $5,000, and is hoping to surpass this number going into game day this year.

Due to increased participation, Full Sail found the need to expand this year’s event into its state-of-the-art on-campus esports arena, “The Fortress” in addition to utilizing the university’s library. Full Sail’s Extra Life team has grown to be the largest and fastest growing team in the U.S. and Canada through registering online and campus students, alumni, as well as staff and faculty team participants. The event has also garnered sponsors such as Coke, Dell, Microsoft, Chick-Fil-A, Red Bull and more.
