Full Sail University | Setting the bar for innovative education
  • Executive Hero of the Year – SILVER WINNER
Full Sail University | Fostering community through innovation during COVID-19| Garry Jones, President

The Golden Bridge Awards celebrates business achievements and innovations of organizations globally. During the 2020 awards, Full Sail was highlighted for the university's response during the pandemic. Within two of the award winning categories, Full Sail was noted for “Setting the bar for innovative education and digital learning during COVID-19.” This was a testament to the institutions forward thinking and its decade-plus investment in developing robust virtual curricula and project-based educational experiences, including its proprietary online learning management system.

The third category in which Full Sail was awarded, highlighted the university's efforts in “Fostering community through innovation during COVID-19” which included an enhanced exclusive virtual learning master lecture series featuring notable alumni and industry stars. In addition, Full Sail's COVID-19 support extended beyond the university. Using its cutting-edge technology and vast educational resources, Full Sail aggregated digital assets, created webinars and provided open source material to help supplement instruction to assist K-12 teachers with virtual training sessions. Going further, Full Sail committed over $1Million in full-tuition scholarships to its Instructional Design & Technology Masters online degree for over thirty K-12 educators.

In that same spirit of fostering community, the university's commitment to following expert guidelines and using technology in innovative ways has created safe, robust educational experiences for both campus and online students during the pandemic. To begin its gradual campus reopening in July (2020), Full Sail consulted with Dr. Michael Lauzardo, Deputy Director of Emerging Pathogens Institute at the University of Florida, in addition to following guidelines from the Center for Disease Control. The university started offering limited on-site experiences for all students beginning this month (October 2020), and will continue its cautious, and safety-focused campus reopening into 2021.

Full Sail was honored to have been recognized amongst many notable organizations including, UnitedHealth Group, Cisco Systems and Jasco Products. Judges from a broad spectrum of industry voices from around the world participated and their average scores determined the 2020 award winners.
