Grad Veronica Concha Works as Managing Director at Latin Record Label

Veronica, who studied music business at Full Sail, helps manage and market Latin artists at Rebeleon Entertainment.

Veronica Concha graduated from Full Sail less than 10 years ago, but she’s already made big strides in her music business career. As the Managing Director at Rebeleon Entertainment, she works with Full Sail Hall of Fame inductee and Grammy- and Latin Grammy-winning record producer Sebastian Krys to help manage the label’s artists, market their music, and produce a charity concert during Latin Grammys week.

Veronica was already working in the music industry in Caracas, Venezuela when she heard about Full Sail from a friend. By the following year, she’d moved near campus in Winter Park, Florida to study music business. She took advantage of everything Full Sail had to offer and flexed her creativity through projects with her fellow students.

I'm looking forward to being there for my artists, to be able to spread their message and [help them] get to wherever they want to be."

“In one class, we made a music video [in a short period of time],” she remembers. “It's radical, because you don't make music videos that quickly in the real world, but [at Full Sail] you get a grasp of the feeling of, ‘Okay, we need to make this happen.’

“I think that knowing that if you have an idea and you can make it happen, that was something that Full Sail gave me,” she continues. “It was like, ‘Okay, we can do this [through teamwork].’”

When graduation neared, Veronica heard that Sebastian was looking for someone to work at his music label, Rebeleon Entertainment. She connected with Sebastian through Full Sail’s Career Development department and moved to Los Angeles to work for him.

Veronica started out at Rebeleon as an A&R and Production Coordinator, where she assisted Sebastian and the marketing director. She got a handle on how everything worked at the label, helped coordinate meetings, and got to read contracts and learn more about the business side of music. In 2021, she was promoted to Managing Director.

In her current role, Veronica works closely with Sebastian and Pam Krys, Rebeleon’s Business Manager. Right now, she’s working alongside the team at Universal Music Latino on projects like Vale, Kat Dahlia, and La Santa Cecilia in the US, Mexico, and Colombia.

Communication is key in Veronica’s job: She spends a lot of time talking to other people in the music industry to help Rebeleon’s artists.

"I’m in a bunch of meetings, and I’m always on the phone,” she laughs. "Depending on the month of the year, we'll release our artists’ music, so we're having marketing meetings, we're having meetings about advertising the songs. We’re finding new ways to pitch the music and get creative on the marketing side to get [the music out] to people now.

"You need to find that space for fans to look at the artist,” she says. "We’re looking for opportunities on the sync side or in touring, talking to all the management and PR teams, and finding new artists. We also [talk to] our artists’ management team in Colombia, and we coordinate activations with the offices in Mexico and the US. We’re always looking for new territories and figuring out what we’re going to do to make things happen.”

One of the most exciting experiences Veronica’s had at Rebeleon is helping produce Los Producers, an annual charity concert that takes place the week of the Latin Grammys. This year’s lineup featured artists like Luis Fonsi, Juanes, and Sabino, and the show raised more than $210,000 for The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

"The production's really intense because all the artists that perform at Los Producers are involved in the Latin Grammys. So we have to wait until the nominations are out to start seeing who's going to perform. That gives you a month or two to put the show together… I love it. It's 20 or 25 artists, and each artist performs a song. It's fulfilling that you can do something that’s giving back to society,” she says.

The glamour of big events and awards shows are a perk of Veronica’s job, but helping Rebeleon’s artists on a daily basis delights her the most.

“I'm looking forward to being there for my artists, to be able to spread their message and [help them] get to wherever they want to be. And to help develop more artists. So it would be lovely if I can do that.”
